How To Update Your Kitchen For Under $500

It’s often said that kitchens sell homes and it’s the heart of a home.

But what to do, when your kitchen is becoming outdated and you don’t  have thousands of dollars to spend?

We have compiled a few tips to help you update your kitchen for under $500.

1. Paint your kitchen cabinetsbe sure to remove the doors from the inches before painting. This will give you better flexibility to do a good job, prevents the doors from sticking together and paint build ups.

Average cost for 1 gallon of paint: $40 – $100 depending on brand etc.

2. Change your light fixture – just by changing your light fixture could make abold statement to your kitchen.

Cost  can be anywhere from $100 upwards…..

3. Change your kitchen hardware and knobs – this is a fantastic opportunity to add finishing or accent touches to a kitchen cabinet that sadly most homeowners miss. If you’re on a budget using hardware and knobs to highlight the special features in your kitchen cabinets is an economical way to make your kitchen stand out. It can be viewed as adding jewelery to your kitchen. The hardware an knobs can cost as little as $0.99 and go as high as $30 each.

Designer inside tip: You can mix and match hardware, if you’re on a limited budget. Select two designs, one can be an expensive showstopper and the second one low or moderately priced. The trick is…. the expensive hardware must be used as a focal point and the lower priced ones must complement the expensive ones. If you’re unsure how to select these pieces on your own, ask your home designer.

Common Types Of Kitchen Hardware:

Pulls –  gives a more sophisticated and elegant look because of their elongated design and normally comes with two screws.

Knobs – give homes a more welcoming and homely feeling and normally come with one screw.

For a dynamic duo use both knobs and pulls in your kitchen.

Hi, I found you kitchen upgrade links particularly useful. Thanks
It is really good to be given these tips, especially for people like me who are on a tight budget! One area I didn’t see covered that is really good to know about is about the kitchen splashbacks. I have found a site that makes acrylic kitchen splashbacks cut to size and delivered. I have shopped around, and for what they do, this company seem to be the cheapest. They have about 80 colours to chose from and can print pictures on the splashbacks as well. They are http://splashacrylic.com
